Mount Fromme sits just east of Grouse Mountain and is home to a large number of mountain biking and hiking trails. At an elevation of 1,185 m, the view from the summit of Mount Fromme is rewarding, but is by no means the best around. Mount Fromme offers views of Lynn Ridge, Coliseum Mountain, Mount Burwell, and Mount Seymour.
Swan Falls Loop Hike at Buntzen Lake
Swan Falls is a hike near Buntzen Lake in Anmore, which takes you along Eagle Ridge, past a waterfall (Swan Falls), tarns, lakes, and over an amazing summit (Mount Beautiful). It’s a fantastic, lesser-travelled alternative to the Diez Vistas route for those wanting a challenging hike with lots of elevation gain, and some spectacular views.
South Needle Hike in North Vancouver
South Needle is a very challenging hike in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park, which flies under the radar compared to a lot of the other nearby hikes like Norvan Falls and Coliseum Mountain. The hike takes you up to the popular Lynn Peak lookout, but then pushes further along Lynn Ridge and beyond Lynn Peak itself to a spectacular view at an elevation of 1,160 m at the summit of South Needle.
Eagle Bluffs and Black Mountain Hike in West Vancouver
Eagle Bluffs near Black Mountain in Cypress Provincial Park is considered by many the best vantage point on Vancouver’s North Shore. Perched on the rocky bluffs you have jaw-dropping views of Howe Sound, Bowen Island, Eagle Harbour, Vancouver, Point Roberts, Mount Baker, and beyond. The hike to Eagle Bluffs also takes you to the two summits of Black Mountain, and offers a chance to see, or even swim in, the beautiful Cabin Lake
Dam Mountain Hike in North Vancouver
Dam Mountain is moderate hike, easily accessible from the Grouse Mountain lodge. The winter version of this trail is known as the Grouse Snowshoe Grind. This hike is fairly short if you are starting from the top of the Grouse Mountain Skyride, and as such is a nice extension to other hikes in the area such as Goat Mountain, Crown Mountain, Thunderbird Ridge and Little Goat Mountain.
Hiking Opal Cone in Garibaldi Provincial Park
Like many of the hikes in Garibaldi Provincial Park, the hike to Opal Cone is one that seems to provide endless breathtaking views. At 35 km, the hike is a very long day-hike, however, the trail is not overly challenging or technical. Many of the kilometers covered are on rolling, wide trail.
