Watersprite Lake was a hidden gem for years. Unknown to most and tucked away down a long, bumpy forest service road. But the word is out and it’s ‘hidden gem’ status has changed.
Mount Strachan in West Vancouver gets less attention than the other hikes in Cypress Provincial Park. While nearby hikes like St. Mark’s Summit and Eagle Bluffs draw big crowds, the trail to Mount Strachan sees fewer hikers. But, anyone who has hiked this loop will tell you the views are as spectacular as any other hike in the park.
Yeo Point is a terrific hike in Ruckle Provincial Park on Salt Spring Island. The trail meanders through lush, old-growth forest of hemlock and cedar. The trail travels by small ponds and a quartz field before ending at a beautiful beach near Yeo Point.
Cascade Falls is a scenic waterfall which plummets 30 metres into an emerald pool. It is located in Cascade Falls Regional Park in Mission, B.C.. It is more of a short walk than a ‘hike’ to the viewing platform. But, Cascade Falls is still worth the drive out. Cascade Falls Regional Falls park is a 22 hectare park with lush forest and a beautiful creek which winds through a ravine.
Lindeman Lake is a popular and scenic hike in Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park. At 3.4 km, it is a short hike, but well-worth the lengthy drive out to the trailhead. While it is a short trail, it’s still a good workout, so don’t be fooled.
Dog Mountain is the most popular hike in Mount Seymour Provincial Park. It is a short hike with little net gain in elevation. Yet, the trail is rooty and rocky, and can also be muddy and slippery. These trail conditions make this hike moderate in difficulty, rather than easy.
