AdventureSmart is a website put together by the BC Provincial Emergency Program to create awareness about the dangers of outdoor activities in BC, and help promote safety.
AdventureSmart is a national program dedicated to encouraging Canadians and visitors to Canada to “Get informed and go outdoors”. AdventureSmart combines online and on-site awareness with targeted outreach to try and reduce the number and severity of Search and Rescue Incidents.
There is a wealth of information about outdoor activities broken down into sections of land, water, snow kids, and trip safety. Everything you will want to know about activity specific safety is available, as well as general trip planning, gear guides, and child specific safety. AdventureSmart also participates in various events locally and you can request presentations for your own events.
The site is definitely worth checking out before venturing into any new sport, or heading into new terrain.
