A Vancouver company might be onto something big, as they’ve created pants that can be worn to work, yet are comfortable and flexible enough to rock climb in. The idea behind these pants is that you can wear pants that look good, keep you performing your best, comfortable, and best of all, won’t make you sweat. The pants, made by DU/ER, just finished a Kickstarter campaign that raised over $200,000 to introduce a revolutionary proprietary fabric, Nature2X, that is infused with performance fibers.
Most pants tend to trap moisture and make us sweaty and sticky, especially while we go about our day or exercise. This sticky, sweaty, and wet feeling is awful and feels worse if you have no way to change into fresh, clean, and dry pants. Also, having to change clothes just to look professional can be a hassle too. Even more so if you need to wear professional looking pants and it gets too hot inside the fabric. That is where this new product comes in.
Here’s how it works. The fabric used consists of many different types of fibers. Each with its own unique characteristics and advantages that create a versatile material. The fabric consists of:
- 28% tencel which is moisture absorbing and naturally anti-bacterial and odor resistant.
- 19% polyester which dries quickly and helps with shape retention.
- 52% cotton which is breathable and durable.
- And also 1% spandex for maximum stretch and fabric memory.
This specific mix of fibers and materials make a unique fabric that is comfortable, stretchy, and yet still provides a ‘dressed-up’ look.
I received a prototype to wear and was very surprised at just how comfortable they are. I wore the 5 Pocket Relaxed Fit pants out on an easy hike last weekend, and the pants were perfectly comfortable to wear the entire time, and they are great for urban wear as well. I ended up wearing them around for the rest of the day, and see the appeal to them as an everyday pant.
Currently, the pants come in three styles for men and they are each comfortable and as durable as the others. The three styles are relaxed, slim, and jogger. Each style will keep you from sweating as you go through your daily routine and exercise. There are also two styles for women – jogger and skinny.
There are also five pocket pants available for both men and women. The men’s styles in this version are slim and relaxed. They come in colors olive, black, and tobacco. They fit waist sizes anywhere from 28 to 40. Women’s five pocket only comes in skinny. The colors here are sand, black, and evergreen. They fit waist sizes between 24 and 34.
The DU/ER pants all feature the following: moisture wicking, antibacterial, durable fabric, optimal stretch, drawcord waist, elastic cuff, fly zipper, thigh zip pocket, snap pockets, belt loops, reinforced pockets, triple stitching, seat gusset, and leather trim.
