Just wanted to put up a quick post to highlight the success of Adam Campbell (@campbelladam79) last weekend on his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for fastest marathon run in a suit. Adam ran the Victoria Goodlife Marathon and crushed the previous record, putting in an amazing time of 2 hours and 35 minutes!
Here’s the blurb from Runner’s World Newswire:
Adam Campbell absolutely destroyed the world record for running a marathon in a business suit by clocking 2:35:53, good for sixth overall, at Sunday’s Victoria Marathon in British Columbia.
The previous record was 3:24:46. Before the race, Campbell said he was shooting for sub-3:00. He met that goal and then some, finishing less than seven minutes off his PR of 2:29:11.
“It’s a beautiful day but definitely a little hot for suit marathoning,” Campbell said after.
On a Letsrun.com thread, Campbell wrote that he wore an off-the-rack suit and cotton dress shirt. “I left the top button on my suit and shirt done up and the tie knotted and pulled tight the whole way,” Campbell noted.
“It was incredibly hot,” Campbell told Runner’s World Newswire. “I felt nauseous from mile 18 on, but just kept dumping water on my head to keep cool. It was worth the extra water weight in the suit.”
